The Jeep Patriot was unveiled to the world in 2006 and slated in Jeep's 2007 lineup. At $14,000 it is the cheapest sports utility vehicle in North America. In look and design, it is similar to the very popular but discontinued Jeep Cherokee. It was released side by side with the Jeep Compass, though the Compass is designed to be more of a sporty vehicle than the Jeep Patriot. Despite this, the Jeep Patriot is one of the most off-road capable designs in its class, and Jeep claims that the Patriot is "designed to perform in five categories of off-road conditions: traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation, and water fording." For the price, it is one of the best deals on the market, especially for people who want to use the vehicle for off-road purposes as well as regular, daily driving. The Jeep Patriot can be found at any Chrysler dealership or Jeep dealership. Anybody seeking the look and feel of the discontinued Jeep Cherokee would be interested in the Patriot, as it resembles the earlier model in many ways. It can also be modified like other Jeeps to be lifted, have larger tires, or even an added supercharger. It is a high performing vehicle with the capability of being even more powerful. The Liberty is related to the Dodge Caliber and the Mitsubishi Lancer, as they are all based on the DaimlerChrylser/Mitsubishi GS platform. That is the platform that underpins all their compact cars, though after they parted ways in 2004, Chrysler made some substantial changes to the platform.
