The wrangler first debuted in 1987, a sort of descendent of the original JEEP manufactured for use during the second World War. It was reimagined and redesigned in 1997 and redesigned in 2007. Each new design is as popular as the one before it, and in all likelihood, the wrangler will continue to be a very successful and popular automobile long into the twenty-first century. In order to keep track of which model is being discussed, Jeep enthusiasts have designated different initials to the different eras. The wranglers manufactured between 1987 and 1997 are known as the YJ, and the ones made from 1998 to 2006 are the TJs. After 2007, these types of Jeeps are known as the JK. This is because that is how the Jeeps were manufactured and marketed in Canada. It minimizes on confusion and ambiguity when discussing the vehicle through the past twenty years. The YJs, TJs, and JKs all have slightly different designs as well as different benefits and additions. For example, the updated TJ has a coil-spring suspension, like the one in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, for better handling in off-road situations. This was a major improvement, because many Jeep enthusiasts enjoy taking their vehicles off-road. Also, there was a right-hand version of the TJ made for overseas markets. Other improvements of the TJ included a better sound system, a larger fuel tank, and more safety features. While there are many different ways to improve or change the Jeep wrangler, its basic design and purpose remains the same throughout the years.
